The PlayStation Trophies experience is a high-profile feature relevant to Sony's gaming ecosystem since the feature's inception with the launch of the PS3.
Trophies are game-integrated achievements that can be unlocked by completing events or quests in a game. Each game has its own set of trophies that are configured by the studio or game developer.
I began leading design for PlayStation Trophies in October of 2021, and since then have shipped several improvements, redesigns, and new experiences, as well as designed & shipped brand new Trophy experiences for several off-console platforms.
Highlights
TROPHY CARD
The Trophy Card acts as a unique, quick-browsing experience that allows players to interact with their trophy list without needing to leave their game.
In the past, casual players and Trophy Hunters alike would need to leave their game & navigate to the full Trophy App to browse & track trophies. Completionists in particular found this flow troubling. The primary goal of the new Trophy Card is to provide a contextual & robust Trophy experience while still keeping players connected to their game.

The Trophy Action Card inside Control Center is accessible by tapping the "PS" button on your controller.
Selecting the Trophy Card displays a full list of available trophies relevant to the game you're currently playing. Players are able to sort trophies in this list just how they would in the full Trophy App.
Players are now able to Pin trophies to the top of their Trophy Card.
Pinning trophies helps players track progress towards trophy completion, and ensures that those trophies remain first in their list while in multitasking mode.
GAME HUB
Game Hub now displays helpful Trophy information relevant to your gameplay.
Players are also able to enter their full Trophy App experience from their Game Hub.
TROPHY APP
Selecting the trophy module from Game Hub takes the player directly to that game's trophy list in their Trophy App. Players can also enter their Trophy App from the Trophy Card, their profile, action cards, and various other areas on PS5.
In their Trophy App, players can see if a Trophy has Game Help available, view full trophy information, pin/unpin a trophy, and much more. Here they're able to take robust action on their trophy list to configure the Trophy Card in their Control Center however they wish.
